Convening

Bringing Health Care Stakeholders Together to Foster Collaboration and Drive Solutions

CQC serves as a trusted, neutral convener, creating spaces where stakeholders can align on health care priorities and develop collaborative solutions. Whether through virtual or in-person meetings, we bring together payers, providers, purchasers, government representatives and community partners to discuss critical issues, share diverse perspectives and generate actionable strategies to improve health care delivery across California.

Our Expertise

  • Facilitating Productive Convenings. Designing and leading virtual or in-person meetings that promote dialogue, ensure all voices are heard and guide stakeholders toward consensus-driven solutions.
  • Leveraging Networks for Engagement. Drawing on our network of partners to bring diverse perspectives into discussions, increasing stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
  • Expert Speakers for Convenings. Providing knowledgeable, engaging speakers to share insights and facilitate meaningful conversations at convenings focused on health care challenges and solutions.
  • Communications and Outreach Support. Providing communication strategies to attract the right audience and participants for maximum impact.
  • Driving Collaborative Action. Facilitating discussions that result in concrete recommendations and actionable plans to address priority health care challenges, such as equity, access and quality improvement.

Our Approach

  • Targeted Meeting Design. Customizing convening formats — such as roundtables, webinars and workshops — and incorporating expert speakers to engage participants meaningfully and enhance discussions.
  • Inclusive and Learner-Centered Facilitation. Applying Dialogue Education principles to foster inclusive, collaborative relationships. Our staff — many of whom are Certified Dialogue Education Practitioners — use this approach to engage participants’ lived experience and expertise effectively.
  • Consensus Building. Guiding discussions to identify common priorities and develop actionable, sustainable solutions that align with stakeholder goals.
  • Follow-Up Recommendations. Providing post-convening recommendations and action plans that ensure discussions translate into measurable improvements.

Proven Impact

CQC’s role as a trusted convener of multi-stakeholder alignment has brought together health care leaders to achieve sustainable improvements across California. Key achievements include:

  • CQC partnered with eight Medicare leaders in a one-year alignment effort to improve care for all Medicare enrollees, including duals, non-duals and those in traditional and Medicare Advantage programs.
  • Sixteen healthcare leaders were convened by CQC at specialty care roundtable focused on improving access to specialty care and advancing health equity in Northern California.
  • Over 20 experts participated in a postpartum sub-workgroup convened by CQC as part of the DHCS Birthing Care Pathway initiative, contributing recommendations to improve maternal care for Medi-Cal members.
  • CQC convened 23 healthcare leaders from purchasers, payers and providers for a listening session requested by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation Center to discuss California’s future primary care priorities and collaboration opportunities.
  • Seven health plans, two provider groups and three state agencies collaborated at an April 2021 roundtable to share best practices for equitable COVID-19 vaccine distribution to under-resourced populations.
  • The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services engaged CQC to host a September 2020 virtual listening session where nine healthcare leaders discussed COVID-19’s impact on primary care and telehealth efforts in California with former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar.
  • Between March and June 2020, CQC hosted bi-weekly webinars, averaging 100 participants, to support providers transitioning to virtual care. Five key telehealth insights identified by CQC were shared nationally in a webinar for the Network for Regional Healthcare Improvement.
